The meaning of the Russian name Vladimir is “Owner of The World” or “Owner of Peace”, because Vladimir is a combination of two words: “Vlad” (possess) connected by “i” (and) to “Mir”(peace or world).
Since the beginning of The Rus rule over the people of Kievan Rus, several rulers were/are called Vladimir.
Vladimir I, full name Vladimir Svyatoslavich or Vladimir the Great, or Vladimir Veliky, was born c. 956, in Kiev, Kievan Rus and died July 15, 1015, in Berestova, near Kiev, aged only 59. Ruler of Kiev 980-1015, Saint Vladimir baptized Kievan Rus into its Christian Orthodoxy in 987, after reaching an understanding with Byzantine Empire and in an effort to end various human sacrifice practices that were commonplace in the region before then. Prince Vladimir was the descendant of Ruriks, a dynasty of Scandinavian Rus overlords, who came down the Dniepr River to rule over the various tribes occupying present day Kiev and surrounding areas. (Note: Ukraine did not exist then and would not come into existence until centuries later.) Prince Vladimir, like majority of population, practiced idolatry until conversion to Christianity for his marriage to Anne of Bysantium. He is also famous for expanding Kievan Rus territories from the Black Sea to the Baltic. A statue of Vladimir in Kiev, on the high bank of Dniepr, is an important historic landmark and even in Soviet religious taboo and starvation times was frequented by many worshipers.
Vladimir II aka Vladimir Monomakh (5/26/1053 to 5/19/1125) was Grand Prince of Kievan Rus from 1113 to 1125. Also, a Russian O
rthodox Saint. Buried in Saint Sofia Cathedral in Kiev. Known for his numerous battles, 83 military campaigns and 19 peace treaties with Polovzi, a feared Turkic nomadic nation that sought to conquer Rus territories. Goes without saying, these wars were bloody hell and remembered for centuries. The Muscovite crown is called Monomakh Cap.
Vladimir Lenin, born Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, 4/22/1870 – died 1/21/1924, was a political terrorist and revolutionary who caused the complete collapse of Russian Empire (a successor co
untry to Kievan Rus and Russia) on November 7, 1917 in Bolshevik Revolution. Ruler of Soviet Russia from 1917 to 1922, and Soviet Union from 1922 to his death in 1924. Resting place – embalmed in Lenin’s Mausoleum, Red Square, Moscow. Responsible for destruction of law and order, creation of concentration camps to systematically eliminate those who were in disagreement with the rule of Bolsheviks. The city of Leningrad was named after him, and Leningrad region still carried his name, despite the city of Leningrad reverting to its pre-revolution name).
Vladimir Putin, full name Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, b. 10/7/1952 (age 70) in Leningrad, USSR, now Saint Petersburg, Russia). A KGB operative with extensive preparation and service career, he became Russia’s Prime Minister before becoming President in 2000. His first term was 2000-2008;
he is now in his second presidential term, which began in 2012, though it is without doubt that he was the secret president during Medvedev’s façade presidency (2008-2012) when Putin reverted to being Prime Minister. Vladimir Putin’s territorial conquests are numerous, but not as numerous as the internal wars he is credited with, including that of elimination of journalists. Putin is a very dangerous and powerful totalitarian ruler, whose aspirations resulted in immeasurable destruction and loss of life. Thus far.
Vladimir Zelensky, though presently spelled in appeasement with Ukrainian revisionism, Volodymyr Zelensky, was born to his Russian-speaking folk, in the lesser known Ukrainian city, Krivoy R
og on 1/25/1978 (age 44 years) became President of Ukraine, a successor country to USSR as well as to Kievan Rus and Russia). In addition to overwhelming mind-boggling circular corruption that the new country of Ukraine had become infamous for during its second ever attempt at independence (1991 to present), he inherited a huge territorial conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine as well as the grab of Crimea. Zelensky’s inexperience and failure to arrive at negotiations in February 2021 has resulted in destruction of his country, countless deaths, dispersion of Ukrainians to safer countries, as well as contributed to destabilization of US economy and further escalated historical and cultural revisionism favoring Western Ukrainian POV in Ukraine as well as worldwide. Even respected previously credible standards, like Encyclopedia Britannica, revised Kievan Rus history to credit Ukraine with its creation. Elimination of Russian Orthodox clergy from its traditional homeseat of Kievan Rus will lead to re-establishment of Catholicism, imho, as was the practice under the 300-long Polish-Lithuanian rule.
Given the devastating effect of the inappropriate act of US congress on both Ukraine and USA, I stand with the people of USA. Zelensky has been keeping certain bedfellows, the world censorship of anything true about Ukraine is rampant, even its complex history is being continually altered and revised, and how VZ has been acting, I assert that he’s no different from his four Vladimir predecessors and in this war of Two Vladimirs there will be no winners. Only losers. One of them may be you.
